Lancret

Lancret worked during the early eighteenth century, when the French court and aristocracy developed a taste for lighter and more intimate art after the formal grandeur of the age of Louis XIV. During the Regency and the early reign of Louis XV, Rococo painting flourished, favouring elegance, leisure, music, theatre and scenes of courtship.
