Historical Context
Political, social and cultural background during the life of Bergson Henri.

Henri Bergson lived during a period of profound scientific, philosophical, and social change. At the turn of the twentieth century, advances in biology and physics challenged traditional ideas about life, matter, time, and human consciousness. Bergson opposed the reduction of reality to purely mechanical explanations and argued that lived experience, memory, and creativity reveal dimensions of existence that scientific measurement alone cannot fully capture. His philosophy developed alongside debates about evolution, positivism, and the relationship between science and metaphysics. His public influence extended beyond academic philosophy, and in 1927 he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature.
