Biography
Frida Kahlo de Rivera (July 6, 1907 – July 13, 1954), born Magdalena Carmen Frieda Kahlo y Calderón, was a Mexican painter best known for her striking self-portraits. Her life both began and ended in Mexico City, in the family home known as the **Blue House** (*La Casa Azul*). Kahlo's work has been celebrated in Mexico as a powerful expression of national identity and indigenous heritage, while feminists around the world have admired its unflinching exploration of the female experience, body, and identity. At the age of eighteen, Kahlo suffered a devastating bus accident that left her with lifelong pain and numerous medical complications. During her long recovery, she began painting seriously, often using herself as the subject of her works. Her paintings blend elements of realism, symbolism, and Mexican folk art, creating a unique and deeply personal visual language. Today, Frida Kahlo is regarded as one of the most influential artists of the twentieth century and an enduring symbol of resilience, creativity, and self-expression.FRIDA KAHLO PAINTINGS
