Kallas Maria 1923 - 1977 (54)

You are born an artist or you are not. And you stay an artist, dear, even if your voice is less of a fireworks. The artist is always there.

QUOTES

I was always too mature for my age – and not very happy. I had no young friends. I wish I could go back to those days. If I could only live it all again, how I would play and enjoy other girls. What a fool I was.

Maria Callas, ( December 2, 1923 – September 16, 1977), was a Greek soprano and one of the most renowned and influential opera singers of the 20th century. Critics praised her bel canto technique, her wide-ranging voice and dramatic interpretations. Her repertoire ranged from classical opera to the bel canto operas of Donizetti, Bellini and Rossini and further, to the works of Verdi and Puccini; and, in her early career, to the music dramas of Wagner. Her musical and dramatic talents led to her being hailed as La Divina. Born in New York City, she received her musical education in Greece and established her career in Italy.
