Bob Dylan is a famous American poet, singer and songwriter, who his career is spanning more than 60 years. Dylan was born in Minnesota, United States, on May 24, 1941, his parents were of Russian descent and belonged to the Jewish community in the area, his father was the co-owner of a furniture store. As a high school student, Dylan began playing the accordion, piano and guitar, and also performed in a band, playing rock and roll, country, folk and blues songs. In 1959 he studied for a while at the University of Minneapolis but left it and went to New York to become a musician. There he met the legend of folk music, Woody Guthrie, who greatly influenced him. In early 1962, he released his first album, with two of his own songs (Talking New York, Song for Woody) and other covers, including The House of the Rising Sun. His second album was released in 1963 and contained the very popular "Blowin 'in the wind". With this album, Dylan escaped the narrow confines of the New York folk community. and became famous all over the world. In the coming decades he will create hundreds of hits and give concerts around the world with undiminished success, many of his lyrics will become slogans for young people. A unique musician, lyricist and poet, he influenced contemporary music as well as the thinking of people who grew up with his songs, some of his songs such as "Blowin' in the Wind" (1963) and "The Times They Are a-Changin'" (1964) became anthems for the civil rights and antiwar movements. He has won dozens of Grammys, an Oscar and in 2016 became the first songwriter to be awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature for his lyrics. |
