THE ILIAD
For nearly three millennia, Homer has been regarded as one of humanity's greatest storytellers. Through the *Iliad* and the *Odyssey*, he established many of the themes that would shape Western literature—heroism, honor, fate, loyalty, love, war, and the longing for home. His characters, especially Achilles, Hector, and Odysseus, became enduring symbols of human strength, courage, and perseverance.
